Clinical Skills
Karen Shaw, the Clinical Skills Facilitator is responsible for running the Clinical Skills facilities at Rotherham. The Clinical Skills Room is situated within the Education Centre and is used not only by undergraduate students but is also a resource for postgraduate medical staff, nursing and other non-medical staff.

The Clinical Skills Room is stocked with up to date equipment  ranging from simple suture kits to high tech manekins. There is a large stock of consumables available so that student doctors can practise the clinical skills from the GMC list. Students on placement for Phase 2 and 4 at Rotherham will have several fully supervised clinical skills sessions during their attachment in the Clinical Skills Room and also with other staff who have links with this area eg Resuscitation. In addition there is the opportunity to use the Clinical Skills Room during student 'open days' and at other times subject to prior arrangement with Karen Shaw.

Students who have previously been to Rotherham have commented that this is an important part of their time here, often with small group, sometimes one-to -one, hands on teaching with a positive encouraging atmosphere. Make the most of it!
